Research Interests: My research interests are situated in the fields of environmental and molecular microbiology using both culture- and omics-based approaches to study microorganisms that play key roles in a changing world. Specifically, I look forward to resolving ecological patterns, processes, and responses that occur within microbial communities and their environment as a result of environmental change. I enjoy working on research projects that incorporate field-work, laboratory experiments, and in silico components.

Laura Kaminsky (starting Fall 2017)
B.Sc. Cornell University (Environmental Science and Sustainability)
Awards: University Graduate Fellowship (2017-18)
Hometown: Rochester, NY, USA
Research interests: I am passionate about sustainable agriculture and the application of high throughput sequencing techniques to investigate soil microbiomes. Specifically, I am interested in observable management contingencies in the structure of agricultural microbiomes, and whether these contingencies translate to altered crop plant performance. I hope to incorporate field work and extension into my research.
